Team17 is releasing its first Worms game in four years this 2020

A new Worms game will be coming later this year, developer Team17 has announced.

The studio confirmed the news today over Twitter with a short teaser video showing the progression of the Worms franchise over the years on an animated television. The teaser ends with a worm beating the television to pieces.

"Grab your Bazooka and jump on your Sheep, the Worms are back in 2020 like you’ve never seen them before," reads the tweet. "New Worms, new ways to play."

This will be the studio's first major Worms title since 2016. Worms has been the flagship franchise for the UK studio for over two decades - a whopping 16 games were released in the series between 1995 and 2010. But in the last few years Team17 has moved more into the game publishing world, releasing games like Overcooked, Yooka-Laykee, and My Time at Portia.
