Apex Legends' System Override event introduces a shield that gets better the more damage you do

Apex Legends is kicking off a new Collection Event next week.

Dubbed System Override, this Apex Legends Collection Event goes live on March 3, and will be available until March 17. As with other Collection Events, System Override will come with its own rewards track.

Players can earn 24 exclusive rewards by playing, which culminate with the Octane Heirloom Set. All of these are cosmetic and available for purchase through event loot boxes.

The big news, however, is the new Deja Loot limited-time mode, which will be available during System Override's run. Deja Loot's first week will be played on World’s Edge, with the second week going back to Kings Canyon.

All loot in Deja Loot matches will have fixed spawns, letting players go directly for the weapons they want. Dropping in different parts of the map is a good way to find out what items spawn where. To make things easier, the plane path and circle locations will all be fixed for a full day, before they shift the next.

On top of Deja Loot's ruleset, the mod is also introducing a new type of shield to the game: the Evo Shield. This shield starts out weaker the common variant, but gets better as you deal damage to (non-downed) players. You could even boost it past Epic (purple) shields that currently exist.

Evo Shields glow, indicating what tier they're on. More interestingly, they store player progress, so one player could pick up a boosted Evo Shield off another player after killing them.

Respawn may bring Evo Shields to regular Apex if players like it. See the rewards that await you on Apex Legends blog.
