Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game mode removed for awarding too much XP
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's latest party game addition has been removed.
As part of this week's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare content update, the game received a number of fresh playlists and new modes.
Among them was Giant Infection; a variant of Infected played on the game's big Ground War maps. The player count and the size of these maps created a different kind of chaos from traditional Infected, but perhaps it was a bit too good.
Developer Infinity Ward quickly discovered that Giant Infection was awarding players more XP than intended. The mode has since been disabled until the issue is resolved.
The developer announced this in a tweet, though did not provide a date as to when Giant Infection would return.
Though that may be disappointing to see, it's worth keeping in mind that Modern Warfare has a Battle Pass where XP gained is a key factor in climbing up the tiers.
Giant Infection is also classified as a party mode, meaning kills/deaths accrued while playing it don't factor into players' main stats. Modes like that are meant to be a fun distraction, so it's understandable the developer don't want them to be too rewarding.
Other modes added with the update, such as the Ground War playlist with Realism rules and no tanks, remain.
