The Wonderful 101 hits Kickstarter with campaign to bring remastered version to Switch, PS4 and PC
Developer Platinum Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring a remastered version of its Wii U release The Wonderful 101 to other platforms.
The Kickstarter campaign is aiming for a baseline funding goal of $50,000 to bring The Wonderful 101: Remastered to Nintendo Switch. Its stretch goal of $250,000 will see the game release to PC via Steam, while a further stretch goal of $500,000 will help bring the game to PS4. There is no stretch goal for an Xbox One version.
Of course, this isn't a total surprise. Rumours of a Kickstarter campaign were kicking around following the studio's seemingly random tease last week, and seemed to heat up even more earlier today.
“It has been a goal of Platinum Games to own and self-publish the IPs that we create. With your support, we hope that we can make this dream a reality and bring The Wonderful 101: Remastered to a wide variety of platforms and make The Wonderful 101 a part of everyone’s gaming history," said Platinum Games in a statement. "This Kickstarter is our chance to UNITE UP, take destiny into our own hands, and bring the best version of The Wonderful 101 to everyone.”
The campaign runs until March 6 at 12pm PST, and if successfully funded will see The Wonderful 101: Remastered launch this April. As of press time the campaign has already met its minimum goal.
It's worth mentioning that earlier today Platinum launched a new teaser site for something called, cryptically, "Platinum 4". It's still unclear what exactly that is, but it doesn't look like this is it. Unless the "4" refers to four different projects of which this is one, in which case it is.
