Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Substory guide - Where to find Great Energetic Fish, Royal Tomato, Maristone, and carrots

Most of the Substories in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot are straightforward. You just need to talk to a character, fly somewhere, beat up some goons, and collect your reward. A few of them however, aren’t quite so simple.

Sometimes on your super saiyan adventure, you’ll need to find hidden items, search out specific materials, or swap for the things you need. It’s not always clear where to get all of these things, so we’ve listed all of the Substories we’ve struggled with - and how to complete them - below.

Like a Different Person Substory - where to find a carrot in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

During the first intermission, you can start the Like a Different Person Substory with Chi Chi and the Ox King at Goku’s house.

Finding the meat for the quest is easy enough, but you might not have come across a carrot yet.

To get some for free, open up the world map and head to Olive Village in the East Ravine area. There’s a field here which you can grab a few from.

Tough Break for Turtle Substory - where to find the farmer and how to swap Great Energetic Fish for a Royal Tomato

Isn’t Turtle lovely? When he asks you to lend a flipper with filling the Kame House fridge, it takes a stony heart to refuse. However, this is one of the more difficult quests we’ve come across.

First off, you need to go to the Southeast Mountains Area to find the farmer in the middle of the map.

Then to get the Royal Tomato, he asks for some Great Energetic Fish in exchange.

It’s not very clear that you don’t get this from tail fishing! What you need to do is head back to the Kame House area and head to the nearby town on another island.

Here I found a man shouting about the Great Energetic Fish. To get your hands on some, look for where there are birds hovering above the sea, then fly underneath the surface. Fly through the groups of swimming fish and you should collect some Great Energetic Fish, along with some fish eggs.

Keep doing this until you have the 10 pieces required. Then return to the farmer and collect the Royal Tomato to get what you need to complete the quest.

Tourists in Trouble Substory - where to find the Maristone

Later on in the Namek arc, there’s a Substory with a very cheekily hidden item: a Maristone.

Once you’ve taken the quest from the alien tourists, head over to the area marked on your map.

Try as you might, there’s no Maristone in the circle - or is there? In the centre of the area, use your High-Speed Dash while flying to destroy the small hill. Once it’s been raised to the ground, you’ll be able to find the purple ball which contains the Maristone.

You can then return to the alien tourists.

Easy-going Genius Substory -where to find Densite and Silver Ore

Once again, you'll probably have enough of the regular Silver Ore to fulfil the requirements for this quest. If you need more, look for mineral deposits which glow yellow. From what we've played, it looks like these are the most likely to contain Silver Ore.

Luckily, a few spawn in the area surrounding the Substory.

As for the other items, the one most likely to give you trouble is Densite. To find Densite in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, you have to fly to the Substory quest marker on your map, then High-Speed Dash through the hill you find there.

You'll then be able to pick up the sphere containing the Densite.
