Bethesda is inviting players to test the delayed Fallout 76 Wastelanders update

Fallout 76's big Wastelanders update may be delayed until later this year, but Bethesda is already looking for players to test it out.

The developer has announced it will be selecting a number of PC players to try out the new update. You can sign up to register for the private Wastelanders server right over here.

Registration will run until January 14 at 3pm PST, and will require users to sign a non-disclosure agreement so you won't be able to share any videos, screenshots, or info.

"We want YOU to join us in Appalachia to prepare for the arrival of Wastelanders," writes the Fallout developer in a blog post. "Starting January 17, we will be inviting a small number of Fallout 76 community members to experience an early version of Wastelanders. During this time, we are looking for you try out the new content, provide your feedback, and report the issues you experience in a Private Test Server (PTS).

"Currently, we are only looking for a few hundred players to join us in playtesting. While this means that not everyone who opts-in will be selected, we wanted to ensure that as many of our most active and experienced community members as possible have the chance to opt in for consideration."

Fallout 76, the first multiplayer title in the Fallout series, released last year to very critical reviews. User reviews were just as brutal, with players flocking to Metacritic to review-bomb the game. Many players complaining about the lack of NPC interaction in the game

The free Wastelanders update is intended to fix this issue by introducing human NPCs to the game, alongside full dialogue trees, and missions. Bethesda is calling it “one of the largest expansions we’ve ever done.”
