Overwatch was Pornhub's top gaming-related search of 2019
Welcome to the glorious 21st century.
The year is coming to an end, and with it comes the greatest part of the holiday season: Pornhub's end-of-year stats. So what have gamers been searching for?
A lot of Overwatch porn.
Overwatch comes out on top of Pornhub's most searched for games-related porn, above Fortnite - which finishes in second place. In third spot is, somewhat worryingly, Pokemon.
While searches of Fortnite are down year-on-year in 2019 by 17 percent, Pornhub confirms that searches for the title saw an increase of up to 152 percent during the game's server outage back in October. Searches containing the term "black hole" also saw an increase during this period - by a whopping 9640 percent - prior to the launch of Fortnite Chapter 2.
Pornhub confirmed in September that within five days of the launch of Borderlands 3 over one million people searched for Borderlands porn. But as of end-of-2019, Borderlands is only the ninth most searched for game on Pornhub.
The newest addition to the search pile this year is Apex Legends, which saw a massive number of searches after its February launch and remained a popular search throughout the rest of the year, according to Pornhub.
"The popularity of Nintendo’s Zelda grew 138% in 2019 to 5.6 million searches and our top video game character, followed by Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft," according to this year's insights. "Other often-searched game character’s included D. Va, Mercy, Mei and Ashe from Overwatch ahead of Fortnite’s Calamity and Brite Bomber."
Likewise, searches for Resident Evil's Ada Wong saw an increase of 288 percent compared to last year, while Pikachu searches increased by 372 percent.
