Pushing back against Mixer and YouTube, Twitch signs exclusive deals with 3 of its top streamers

Twitch, which had for years been the defacto livestreaming platform, now has to work to ensure its top talent doesn't jump ship.

Twitch has signed multi-year exclusive deals with Lirik, Timthetatman, and Drlupo. All three streamers revealed the news yesterday through official videos posted to their Twitter accounts.

Their names should be familiar to anyone who frequents Twitch. Even if you do not directly follow them, you'll often see their streams on Twitch's front page.

This move isn't particularly surprising; Twitch has been bleeding major streamer talent for a little while now. The trend started with Ninja jumping to Mixer, who was later followed by Shroud and King Gothalion. Others, like Courage, went to YouTube.

It is understandable, then, that Twitch is looking to secure the platform's top streamers. Lirik, Timthetatman, and Dr Lupo aren't the only top talent on the platform, of course, so expect more deals of this nature to be made, either on Twitch or competing platforms.
