Next week's Destiny 2 patch will raise the Power cap, make changes to Eververse
Destiny 2 is in the final week of Season of the Undying, and Bungie has detailed what to expect next week.
Next week, on Tuesday, December 10, Destiny 2's Season of Dawn kicks off. As we've come to expect, the new season will arrive alongside a patch due out on the same date that makes gameplay tweaks and other changes for everyone.
Bungie confirmed in the weekly blog post that update 2.7.0 will raise the Powerful power cap to 960, and Pinnacle cap to 970. That's a 10 Power increase there, which is the Power boost this season. Bungie is also getting rid of Fated Engrams and merging them with standard Exotic Engrams. Going forward, Exotic Engrams will always award an Exotic you do not already have. If you have everything, you'll get a random piece of class-specific armour.
The cost to slot a mod into a weapon is dropping to just 500 Glimmer from 5,000. The Gunsmith will now offer a rotating set of repeatable bounties, and his Field Calibration weekly bounty will now track progress across strikes, Crucible and Gambit.
Escalation Protocol, the Mars-based PvE mode, is also seeing a few changes. The wave seven chest will no longer require a key to open, you just need to complete the wave. The chest will award one piece of Escalation Protocol armour for your character until you earn the full set, after which you'll continue earning random pieces of armour.
As part of this change, Charged Decryption Keys and Key Fragments are being removed from the game. This doesn't affect Armory keys (required to use Valkyrie Javelins).
Finally, Bungie plans to make more items available for purchase using Bright Dust in the Eververse Store. Bright Dust will also be awarded from all weekly and repeatable bounties in Season of Dawn. The developer is also working on making it clear which items will only be offered for Silver, so you don't accidentally spend the paid currency on something you could've bought with Dust.
Update 2.7.0 will release following three hours of maintenance that kicks off at 8am PT, 11am ET, 4pm UK.
