Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trials mode returns
Trials mode is once again available to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players in the Officer ranks.
Update - November 13: Infinity Ward has re-enabled Trials mode following the release of this week's Modern Warfare patch.
The mode was first introduced before the end of October, but was quickly taken out after the developer was made aware of a major bug that prevents players from getting the XP earned while playing it. Whatever issue causing that has seemingly been resolved, because Officer rank players can now jump in and spend their tickets.
You can see the original story below.
Original story (October 30): Trials is a new mode added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare overnight. Trials are available only to players at Officer ranks - which you reach after clearing the initial 55 levels of progression.
The more you reach higher Officer ranks, the more you tickets you'll accumulate. Each ticket unlock access to Trials, which are essentially expanded versions of the training course in the original Modern Warfare. Only this time, one of the courses actually includes live targets.
There are three maps for Trials so far, and each ticket lets you try the course for three times before it expires.
The game will score your performance, awarding it a rating between zero to three stars. Stars are cashed in for XP; 5,000 for one star, 7,500 for two, and 10,000 for three. Sounds like a decent way to boost your level in Officer ranks.
The only problem is, Trials wasn't actually awarding any XP. Players quickly discovered this shortly after the mode went live, causing Infinity Ward to disable it. Infinity Ward said in a Reddit post that Trials had to be disabled while it investigates why XP isn't being awarded.
There's no ETA on when Trials will return. In the meantime, you can check out our Modern Warfare reviews for single-player and multiplayer.
