Watch gameplay from Battlefield 5's new Pacific maps: beach landings, M1 Garand and more
The launch of Battlefield 5's Chapter 5: War in the Pacific is nearly upon us, and we can finally see the new maps in action.
The Pacific theatre arrives in Battlefield 5 with Chapter 5 this Thursday. War in the Pacific adds the Japanese and US factions, two new maps at launch (and a third in December), and a tonne of authentic weapons and vehicles.
To call it the game's biggest content update would be accurate, but we never really managed to get a solid look at it until today. We recently sent Ben Griffin to play the new content, and he was particularly impressed with the beach landings in the Breakthrough mode played on these maps.
Despite Battlefield 5's WW2 setting, DICE elected not to feature the iconic Normandy landings in Battlefield 5, so that style of gameplay has certainly been missing from the game. The developer knows very well that it's in fan service territory here, but it's also hoping the content will be enough to convince lapsed players to make a return.
If you want to see more of the action, check out our gameplay round-up below, featuring footage from Westie and TheBrokenMachine.
And as a bonus, here's the hidden M1 Garand reload animation from DANNYonPC:
Battlefield 5 is free to play this weekend, including the new Pacific content, so download and play it if you're curious. As with most meaningful post-launch content, the Pacific is available to all Battlefield 5 players in a free update.
