Destiny 2: Shadowkeep - How to get the Riskrunner Exotic SMG

There's a new Arc Exotic weapon in town and it's one of the easiest to get your hands on in Shadowkeep.

To get started, you'll need to complete the first Shadowkeep story mission. If you can stand to leave the spooky Moon alone for five minutes, it's worth visiting Banshee-44 in the Tower and picking up the Pain and Gain quest from him.

This weapon is one of the easiest Exotics to get your hands on in Destiny 2, so let's take a look at what you need to do.

How to get the Riskrunner Exotic SMG

To complete the Pain and Gain quest step, you need to clear a Lost Sector in the EDZ - even a super easy one like the Atrium - then take part in a Heroic Public event and complete a Nightfall Strike. All in, this should take you about 20 to 30 minutes.

Once you've done that, the quest updates to Risk/ Reward. Go to Earth and you'll see a new quest marker on the map that takes you to the Cosmodrome. You'll need to kill a Fallen Walker tank and three Dusk Captains.

You'll then be prompted to head inside and jump up a series of platforms until you reach one of Cayde-6's hidden weapon caches. You'll reach a room with a photo of his beloved chicken, Colonel, and some Arc Conductors.

You'll then receive the Riskrunner Exotic SMG and can try it out against some enemies before the mission ends, rewarding you with the Riskrunner Catalyst.

Riskrunner has the Arc Conductor Intrinsic Perk, where taking Arc damage increases weapon power and Arc resistance. It also comes with the Superconductor perk, where if Arc Conductor is active, shots fired have the chance to become chain lightning and return ammo.

This seemed to work more often with groups of ads and you'll be bristling with Arc energy for a few seconds after they've all been defeated.

Now that the Garden of Salvation raid is complete, it's time to tackle the Eyes on the Moon quest and unlock the Vex Offensive.
