Astral Chain reviews round-up, all the scores

Astral Chain, the Switch-exclusive action game from Bayonetta developer PlatinumGames, is out this week.

Astral Chain puts you in the role of Akira, a Neuron Police Officer - a kind of elite police force unit capable of summoning an AI partner known as Legion who will automatically engage enemies in combat.

The titular Astral Chain refers to a magical glowing iron which links Akira to his Legion. There are multiples of these Legion characters to choose from, and each has its own particular playstyle - some are more melee-focused, others dedicated to ranged-combat, and so on. Legion can also be used to distract an enemy so you can heal, while the chain itself can be used as a tool for grabbing or throwing enemies.

Astral Chain is directed by Takahisa Taura - best known for his work on Nier Automata - and made under the supervision of Hideki Kamiya, series creator of Bayonetta and director of the original Devil May Cry. The game also features characters designed by manga artist Masakazu Katsura.

Astral Chain launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on August 30.
