Gears 5 requires Xbox Live login on Steam, PC specs revealed
Gears 5 developer The Coalition has blown the doors wide open on the game's PC version.
As most will remember, Gears 4's PC version was exceptional, boasting incredible customisability and support for a wide range of PC-specific features. The Coalition looks to be continuing the same philosophy with Gears 5.
In a new blog post, the developer outlined some of the high-level features PC players can expect from Gears 5 come launch, and confirmed the game's minimum, recommended and ideal specs.
The Steam version of Gears 5, will - unsurprisingly - require an Xbox Live account, The Coalition confirmed. This ensures all your progress is synced between versions, though you obviously do not need Gold to play online. Although the Steam version supports cross-play with the Windows Store version, as well as Xbox One, it is not part of cross-buy.
Owning a copy of Gears 5 on Steam does not mean you own it on Xbox One, or the Windows Store. This also means owning an Xbox One or Windows Store copy won't net you a free copy on Steam. Outside of that, everything should work as it does on Microsoft's platforms.
Gears 5 also has an optional high-resolution texture pack download, which is intended for players who meet or exceed the game's ideal specs. Read on below for the full set.
