Apex Legends getting a new event "in the next few weeks", will deliver "one of the most fan-requested features"
EA has confirmed that Apex Legends will host a big event soon, and is already teasing what it might bring.
During an earnings call for the first quarter of FY2020, EA, unsurprisingly, brought up the topic of Apex Legends plenty of times. CEO Andrew Wilson opened up the call by saying that the recently launched Season 2 is performing above expectations.
EA is seeing big growth in daily and weekly active players, though the publisher did not reveal any new hard numbers. Season 3 is "shaping up to be even bigger", and the company confirmed it'll follow the same cadence of content and patch releases.
But before Season 3 kicks off sometime in Q2 of the fiscal year, Respawn will debut a big in-game event in Apex Legends. Wilson didn't reveal much about the theme of the event, but he did confirm it'll "bring new content and deliver one of the most fan-requested features."
The two most often requested features, as far as I can tell, would be Titans and the addition of a PvE mode. Either (or both) would make for a unique experience not presently available in Apex Legends. They'd also lend themselves really well to being limited-time offerings, since Respawn won't have to worry as much about balance for the long term.
As for the event's timing, Wilson said it'll hit "in the next few weeks", which suggests he's not referring to the rumoured Halloween event. In any case, being so close means we're bound to get some official teasers relatively soon.
Finally, Wilson reiterated that EA is bringing Apex Legends to mobile, and officially to China, though did not share an update on these projects' progress.
