Next Overwatch hero will be released later than planned, Summer Games coming earlier
Overwatch Summer Games will come a bit sooner than usual, and the next hero will be released "later" than originally planned.
Blizzard said its its latest developer update Overwatch Hero 31 will be released "later" than what players are used to.
According to director Jeff Kaplan, the team needs more time to work on the character.
"Hero 31 is going to be awesome, but he will be released a little bit later than you're used to," said Kaplan in the developer video.
"But he will be here soon enough so don't worry. We think the little extra time is going to make the hero even more awesome."
Kaplan also said the Overwatch Summer Games will be coming a bit earlier than usual, but didn't elaborate on how much earlier to expect the event. The Summer Games event usually occurs in early-August.
Elsewhere, he also discussed improvements made to the game's ant-cheat detection. The new system, currently live on PTR, will now automatically shut down a match where cheating is detected.
When this happens, Blizzard will make sure that "no one on either side of the match" is penalized for the match being shut down.
"If you're in a competitive match, you won't loose SR if a cheater is on the other team or one is on your team," he said.
