Fortnite players on PC will need a graphics card that supports DX11 starting with Season 10

Fortnite players on PC who play on an older system will need to get with the times come Season 10.

Starting with Season 10, the PC version of Fortnite will require a graphics card capable of running DirectX 11.

Epic Games notes that while DirectX 11 was always one of the game's system requirements, it still supported older graphics cards.

This will change come Season 10. Epic announced once the season is live, the game will no longer be compatible with older graphics cards.

"This allows us to focus our development and testing efforts to further optimize the Fortnite experience for all players," reads the notice."

DirectX 11 was released in 2011 and with Windows 8, but not all older graphics cards support DX11. Be sure to check with your card manufacture for a driver update, or if your card doesn't support anything above DX10, it may be time to upgrade.

Select games support DX12 on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, but Microsoft will stop free, extended support for Windows 7 SP1 in January 2020 and Windows 8.1 in January 2023. So it's probably time to upgrade your OS to Windows 10 as well if you haven't already.
