BioWare just delayed Anthem Cataclysms and plenty of other promised features
Anthem's roadmap has officially been made redundant now that BioWare revealed it won't be able to deliver.
Anthem's big 1.1.0 patch rolled out overnight, and though it does add new content and bring welcome features, it also came with some pretty bad news.
Anthem's content and events roadmap, which BioWare had revealed shortly after the game's launch, won't proceed as planned.
Act 1, which encompasses content updates in April, and May, is having many of its promised features delayed. In a post on Reddit, BioWare explained that Anthem had "more things to fix and improve than we planned for", which is why much of that roadmap is getting delayed.
This includes the mastery system, guilds, phase 2 of Legendary Missions, weekly stronghold challenges, leaderboards, and freeplay events. The biggest promised addition was, of course, Cataclysms, which are also getting delayed.
BioWare never officially revealed what Cataclysms are, other than to say they're big events that advance the game's story, and bring new content. Details about the Cataclysms will be revealed in May.
"We know you have been waiting for these updates, and that you might not be pleased with where we are today. We understand and respect these perspectives," the developer wrote
"The only thing we can say is this – we believe in Anthem. We believe the game will be great, but we recognise getting there will take a lot of hard work. We want to do that work and we want you all to join us on the journey to get there."
BioWare did not provide an updated roadmap, which could be an indication that the delay is going to be long.
