Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order store page touts "cinematically-charged" Lightsaber combat with "striking, parrying, dodging"
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order may have been officially revealed, but we still know very little about it.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is pitched as a single-player-only action adventure starring a hunted Jedi apprentice, but that's about the extent of what official information revealed.
The big gameplay reveal likely won't happen until E3, but the game's Microsoft Store page dangled a few tidbits to keep us guessing until then.
More specifically, the page touches on the combat of the third-person action adventure. It call its Lightsaber combat "cinematically-charged", which it explains will deliver "the kind of intense Star Wars Lightsaber battles as seen in the films."
What that means in practice is that Fallen Order's combat will involve strikes, parries, and dodges. Force abilities will augment the fights, with more of them to be unlocked over the course of the game. Obviously, without seeing actual gameplay, it's hard to guess what that actually means in practice.
There's a chance it'll be comparable to something like Sekiro or Souls, seeing as Fallen Order's combat designer is responsible for God of War 3's combat. But we may also be looking at an upgraded version of the Lightsaber combat in Battlefront 2, which, although serviceable, is nothing spectacular.
Alongside the main hero, the story synopsis also reveals that the Padawan will be aided by "a former Jedi Knight", a pilot, and a droid. We only got a glimpse of the pilot, and the droid in the trailer, but the identity of the Jedi Knight remains a mystery.
Elsewhere on the page, the description mentions a campaign spanning different unique biomes as we explore "the mysteries of a long-extinct civilisation", and rebuild the Jedi order. This will boil down to exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat across different environments.
This all certainly sounds very interesting, and, with the pedigree of the people behind it, has the potential to be a special game.
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is out November 15 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
