Phoenix Point will be an Epic Games Store exclusive for one year
X-Com creator Julian Gollop has announced Phoenix Point will be an Epic Games Store exclusive for one year.
Phoenix Point, the upcoming title from the creator of the original X-COM series, will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store upon release, and for its first year of availability.
The news was announced by Gollop today on the game's official website.
According to Gollop, the exclusivity deal will allow Snapshot Games "to update and expand"the game for years to come.
He also announced those who backed the game on Fig or who pre-ordered it through today will receive a year of free DLC.
"That’s right - every piece of paid DLC we release during our first year will be automatically added to your Epic Store account when you redeem your key," he said.
"We recognize that some of you may have backed or pre-ordered with an expectation of the platform you’d be able to play it on, and that this update changes that.
"If for any reason you are not happy with this change, we will be happy to offer you a full refund and apologize for any inconvenience caused."
Gollop said the development team will host an AMA on the Phoenix Point subreddit tomorrow to answer any questions folks may have regarding the Epic Games Store deal.
Phoenix Point is slated for release in June 2019.
