Apex Legends is the most-viewed game on Twitch with 3 times as many viewers as Fortnite
Apex Legends has over 200,000 viewers on Twitch right now.
Respawn Entertainment's free-to-play foray into the world of battle royale games released this week, and as well as drawing in a healthy number of players at launch, it's piqued the interest of viewers on Twitch, temporarily dethroning Fortnite and banishing it from the top five most-viewed games on the streaming platform.
At the time of writing, Apex Legends has 232,000 viewers and is sitting at No.1 on Twitch. Fortnite is at No.6 with around 75,000 viewers.
Apex Legends had over one million players within eight hours of going live, which shot up to over 2.5 million in its first 24 hours.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said that the game peaked at nearly 600,000 concurrent players by the middle of Tuesday, a day after launch.
"It’s very early, but the response to the game has been very, very strong. We’ve been the number one views game on Twitch since launch and player sentiment seems to be very, very high right now," he added.
