Deracine, the VR game from Dark Souls' director, arrives in November

Deracine, the new PS VR game by FromSoftware, will soon be available to Western audiences.

Deracine was perhaps one of the most unusual presentations of E3 2018, largely because it was announced by FromSoftware - creator of Dark Souls and other brutally challenging action-RPGs. Yet instead of murder and monsters, we were presented with a peaceful exploration experience inspired by adventure games and visual novels. Whatever it may be, you'll be able to play it for yourself on November 6, 2018.

Deracine follows the adventure of a faerie who is invisible to humans, but can explore the world outside of time. Summoned to a secluded boarding school occupied by six students and a headmaster, it becomes clear that you're the only one in a position to solve an unusual mystery. By interacting with your surroundings in subtle ways - like say, leaving objects for someone to find - you can reveal the truth and bring the story to its conclusion.

This project is directed by Dark Souls and Bloodborne creator Hidetaka Miyazaki himself, and should be a perfect palate cleanser if you're looking for something other than his standard epic action. "This title got its start when I asked myself whether I could recreate the classic adventure game with its relaxed pace in virtual reality, giving users an entirely unique experience," Miyazaki said during E3.

Deracine can be pre-ordered now for $29.99 from the PlayStation Store, and includes a dynamic theme and seven avatars as bonuses. A PlayStation VR unit is required to play.
