Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery adds Year 5 with new magical classes, locations and wizarding exams
Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery’s original story is getting another chapter - Year 5 - today, developer Jam City has announced. Players will now be able to take their dreaded O.W.L.s in their fifth year at Hogwarts, learing in new classes with new teachers and visiting familiar locations from the book series.
As readers of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (or the books in general) will know, once you reach your fifth year of witchcraft and wizardry school you have to sit your first proper exams - just like muggles have to sit their O Levels and GCSEs.
In Year Five of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery, you’ll meet professors like the History of Magic teacher Cuthbert Binns and a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, as well as more members of the Weasley family.
As for new locations, you’ll get to visit the shadowy Knockturn Alley - where fans will remember Harry accidentally travels to Borgin and Burkes via Floo Network during Chamber of Secrets.
Also, players that managed to earn a Prefect’s Badge during their story in Year 4 will be able to start their duties, and gain access to the luxurious Prefect’s Bathroom.
“Year 5 is a pivotal year for any student at Hogwarts, with the O.W.L. exams looming, new professors to navigate, and for some, a prefect badge on their robes,” Jam City executive producer Amanda Heaton said.
“We wanted to reflect the rigors of this year in the mobile game, balanced of course, with the core extra-curricular activity at Hogwarts: unraveling mysterious with your school mates. Year 5 brings the most robust year of content yet to the game, and we’re excited for players to start this new chapter.”
You should be able to download the update today, September 6th on iOS and Android.
Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery recently added pets for purchase in-game, as well as multiplayer duelling events over the summer.
