A Plague Tale: Innocence uncut gameplay trailer will make your skin crawl
Asobo Studio has released a gameplay trailer for A Plague Tale: Innocence that shows the game's swarms of ravenous rats in all their icky glory.
A Plague Tale: Innocence was unveiled at E3 2017, and Focus Home Interactive and Asobo Studio have released the 16-minute gameplay sequence that was shown behind-closed-doors at the event last year.
The adventure game follows protagonist Amica and her younger brother Hugo as they make their way through the French countryside in this particular snippet, avoiding French and British soldiers embroiled in the Hundred Years' War.
Amica isn't kitted out with an arsenal of weapons. Instead, she uses a torch to keep the rats at bay, and a sling to lob rocks at oncoming soldiers, making them drop their lanterns, and letting the swarm of rats move in for the kill.
The story kicks off in 1349, and sees Amica and Hugo on the run from Inquisition soldiers.
The game is "a seamless blend of adventure and stealth gameplay, deeply embedded in dark medieval mystery."
A Plague Tale: Innocence launches in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
