Retro City Rampage sequel, Shakedown: Hawaii, arrives this year

Shakedown: Hawaii doesn't have an official release date, but a new Steam page suggests it will launch in 2018.

Retro City Rampage was a cathartically fun action game that parodied old-school Grand Theft Auto, along with all kinds of pop culture staples. Its sequel, Shakedown: Hawaii, appears to be more of the same - but we didn't have a release date.

Thankfully, Vblank Entertainment has unveiled the game's Steam page, and it includes a 2018 release date.

Shakedown: Hawaii is set 30 years after the events of Retro City Rampage, when the Player comes out of retirement to build a profitable corporate empire. Your progress will be measured by completing open-world missions, acquiring property, shaking down other businesses, and collateral "re-zoning".

While the overall game resembles Retro City's top-down graphics, a stronger emphasis is placed on parodying corrupt businesses and white collar crimes. Of course, you can still run around shooting everything in sight, just like any good GTA clone.

Shakedown: Hawaii is expected to launch for PC, PlayStation 4, the PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch, presumably within the same 2018 release window. Get your rocket launchers ready before then.
