E3 2018: watch the first gameplay footage of co-op zombie shooter World War Z

World War Z developer Saber Interactive treated us to our first look at in-game footage just before E3, and this week, we get a proper look at the action.

World War Z is a four-player co-op zombie shooter based on the book, and at E3 this week, Saber revealed that it'll feature multiple locations from the book. Each location will have a different set of survivors.

In this third-person shooter, you won't just be using melee weapons and firearms, you'll also be constructing defences in-between attack waves. In the demo below given to IGN at E3, a Saber developer explained a few of the game's unique features.

World War Z is designed for co-op, but can be played solo. The AI will take over the three other characters, as you'd expect.

One of the more immediately noticeable features is the number of zombies on screen in these massive hordes, around 500 of them in one wave in the New York demo being shown. Although the game follows events from the novel, it's using the movie's incredibly fast zombies.

The developer explains that World War Z favours action, giving players plenty of weapons to use with lots of opportunities to resupply. Catch it all below.
