Fortnite blocks your Switch login if you've played on PS4
If you've already played Fortnite on your PlayStation 4, you may need a new account for the Switch.
Fortnite launched today for the Nintendo Switch, and included cross-play support for everything but the PlayStation 4. But fans have discovered a major annoyance when logging in: if your account was used on a PS4, they can't access the Switch version at all.
Even worse, since Sony insists that you can't undo linking accounts, you'll have to create a new account just to play on the Switch. The Fortnite account tracks seasonal progression, DLC purchases, and in-game friends, but enforces certain limitations for cross-play purposes. (Thanks Eurogamer.)
Perhaps Sony and Epic Games can find a solution, but considering the Switch version already has an in-game warning notice, we can assume those negotiations already failed. We'll keep you posted on further developments.
