Cyberpunk 2077 finally makes its glorious E3 debut
As suspected, Cyberpunk 2077 finally offered more than a teaser trailer at E3.
Thanks to mysterious tweets and RPG presentation registrations, we were pretty sure 2018 was the year CD Projekt RED would finally show off Cyberpunk 2077. Today did not disappoint.
While the trailer doesn't feature any gameplay, it acts as a great introduction to CD Projekt RED's new world. You'll play as V, a lone agent in Night City, California, a city voted "the worst in America". The game will involve navigating the various criminal and corporate interests that make it a deadly place to live. Most characters are outfitted with cybernetic gear that enhances their physical attributes and combat abilities, which certainly doesn't make things any safer. I still can't wait to check this one out.
And if you're a console fan, there's more reason to be excited. Cyberpunk 2077 was introduced at Microsoft's E3 presser, which means we can absolutely expect an Xbox One launch alongside PC (and it's coming to PS4 as well).
In a fun twist, the trailer also featured download codes for GOTY editions of The Witcher 3 hidden in its opening seconds, although it's safe to assume they've all been claimed by now.
A new website for the game has also debuted, which features a neat little synopsis:
"The world is broken. MegaCorps manage every aspect of life from the top floors of their sky-scraping fortresses. Down below, the streets are run by drug pushing gangs, tech hustlers, and illegal braindance slingers. The in-between is where decadence, sex and pop culture mix with violent crime, extreme poverty and the unattainable promise of the American Dream."
There are screens, too, which show off the vibe CD Projekt Red is going for.
If that's not enough to get you excited, Jason Brandenburg prepared a brief introduction to the Cyberpunk universe that should help you realize its roleplaying potential.
