Fortnite Challenges: Week 5, Season 5 - earn those extra stars and XP
Fortnite's Week 5 Challenges go live today, so let's get to work, shall we?
As usual with Season 5, the challenges are now split into two sections, Free and Battle Pass. Obviously you'll need to own the Battle Pass to complete four of the seven challenges and grab that bonus 5000 XP.
Fortnite Season 5 Week 5 Challenges:
Free Challenges
- Search chests in Junk Junction (7)
- Use Rift Portals (3)
- Eliminate opponents (3)
This one could be a little difficult to tick off early. There are only ten possible chest spawn locations in the main area of Junk Junction. To offset that, there are two in the giant wooden llama statue to the north that will count towards your progress. We have a full map of where to grab chests in Junk Junction here.
This is simple enough - what you have to do is walk through any of the rift portals that you can find randomly throughout the Fortnite map. They shouldn’t be too hard to find, and are extremely useful when assaulting people’s bases in the late game. Plus you only have to come across three to snag this reward.
Pretty straightforward, but if you’re struggling in the core solo and duos modes, try jumping into one of the more chaotic LTMs. You should be able to pick off a few people more easily with that added element. You can also camp to this week's map location at Haunted Hills.
Battle Pass Challenges
- Deal damage to players with a Clinger, Stink Bomb, or Grenade (300)
- Hit a golf ball from tee to green on different holes (5)
- Follow the Treasure Map found in Snobby Shores
- Eliminate opponents in Shifty Shafts (3)
We've already had a similar challenge this season but the advice remains the same; jump into an LTM where other players are distracted, focus on finding the weapon you need and use them liberally. You’re only trying to deal damage, not eliminate players, so don’t worry too much about finishing the job - just rack up as much damage as you can and this’ll be done in a few games.
The golf equivalent of the basketball challenge from a few weeks ago, you can equip the golf ball in your locker and use it like an emote. Here's a guide to hitting a golf ball from tee to green on different holes. You're going to need a little patience to bag this one up.
Here's the location when you follow the treasure map found in Snobby Shores. You'll end up in Haunted Hills and 10 Battle Stars richer.
Shifty is a pretty popular location, but in the first week of the challenge dropping you really shouldn’t need help finding people to battle here. If you go here straight from the Battle Bus, try and swoop down into the lower portion of the mine quickly so you can be first to the floor loot. This means you’ll be ready and waiting for unsuspecting players that traipse down after you. Sneaky…
As for other Fortnite news, Android players could soon be in on the party. The Fortnite Android release date could be as soon as this week, with rumours hotting up that the game will be exclusive to Samsung for a limited time.
