PS4 firmware update 5.53 is out now
Sony has just released a new firmware update for your PS4.
Firmware update 5.53 follows on from last month's major 5.50 update, and, as has typically been the case, big updates are usually followed by incremental ones.
Today's 5.53 falls in the latter category, which means it sadly doesn't come with any exciting new additions. The only patch note Sony released talks about improving system performance, which is what nearly all previous non-major updates did.
The update comes in at the typical size, just above 400MB and it's available now for everyone. You'll need this update to play online, or even log in to the network for obvious reasons.
If your console is left in Rest Mode, it should automatically grab it and install it.
If you missed it, the previous update, released over a month ago, added Supersampling Mode and rearranged the messy Library section. It also improved the layout of the Quick Menu, and the notification centre was updated to allow for bulk deletion.
