Fortnite Server Status - update: it's online but 50vs50 v2 has been delayed to next week
Fortnite is back! That should please many folks. Unfortunately, 50v50 v2 has been delayed.
Epic Games has announced Fortnite is back up and running properly, after a number of hours offline.
In a continued effort to keep the servers stable, however, the studio is delaying the release of 50v50 v2 Limited Time Mode.
Set to go live today, due to the account service issues the game has been experiencing, the mode will instead release next week.
"In order to preserve your play experience this weekend, we will be delaying it to next week," said Epic. "We want you to be able to play Fortnite, and can’t wait to get this mode into your hands ASAP."

Epic has said it has seen noticeable improvement in the ability for Fortnite players to get online. Many PS4 players are also reporting the ability to jump in, and queue times are a bit all over the place. Keep that in mind when when trying to log in.

The latest update from Epic Games stated Fortnite services should begin to recover over the next couple of hours.
Due to issues with the account system, players on PS4 will be unable to login for an additional period of time.
Epic apologized for the extended downtime, and said it would update Fornite players again within the next hour.

Epic seem to be adding people back in waves, so expect to wait in a queue for up to ten minutes. If it says any longer than that - we've seen some timers say more than an hour - restart your game and try again.
A previous update from Twitter is that the game is still experiencing "extended instability" with no ETA for a complete fix. There has been progress in the investigation throughout the day though, Epic have said that theyhave "made progress" on their internal investigations and "may understand the problem".
In a statement on reddit, Epic said:
"We’re sorry for the ongoing extended instability. We had a critical failure with one of our account service databases. As a result, our login and matchmaking systems are unstable.
"Our team has been working through the night on fixes in order to bring the game fully back up. Right now we don’t know how long it will take, but we will update you hourly.
"Thanks for your patience while we work to resolve these issues."
For the lucky ones that've made it in, the Fortnite Week 8 Challenges are live. This week you have to search between three boats and dance on three different dancefloors, as well as search 7 chests in Snobby Shores.
Original Story: Epic Games’ massively popular battle royale mode for Fortnite has been offline since last night when the servers were taken down for emergency maintenance.
The issue seems to be with “account services” which is causing issues with logging into the game.
Epic’s first fix - which was deployed at around 1AM UTC - wasn’t able to handle the amount of traffic that surged back onto the game, so Fortnite had to be taken offline again to “deploy major upgrades” to its database system.
When will the Fortnite servers be back online?
On Twitter, Epic Games’ most recent update states that there is currently “no ETA on when servers will be back up”.
However, they have more recently updated their official game status page, saying: “We're still working on the database upgrade process, and remain in downtime.”
That was at around 6AM UTC - just over four and a half hours ago at time of writing - so we could hear more soon.
Fortnite Waiting in Queue and “unable to sign in to your account”:
If you’re try to play Fortnite right now, you’re most likely seeing either one of two messages:
“Waiting in Queue” or “Unable to sign in to your account”
These messages are being caused by the ongoing issues, and will hopefully be resolved when a fix is deployed.
Epic have been experiencing difficulties with Fortnite over the last 48 hours. The latest V3.5 patch reintroduced the double pump exploit and broke guided missiles. Work on squishing these bugs once and for all may also be contributing to the length of the current downtime.
