Blizzard is seemingly teasing Diablo 3 for Nintendo Switch [UPDATE]

Blizzard has said its recent tweet wasn't about what many had hoped.

Update

A tweet from Blizzard earlier this week had many folks all a flutter speculating the studio was bringing Diablo 3 to Switch.

That was not the case, apparently.

Speaking with Polygon, a Blizzard spokesperson said the tweet was nothing more than “a fun community engagement piece.”

“We can assure you we’re not that clever," said the rep. "We have nothing to announce.”

Original story follows.

Midway through the week, Blizzard's official Twitter shared a very bizarre video of a Diablo-themed nightlight.

You may not think anything of it at first, but Blizzard does make it a point to switch it on and off a couple of times. Almost as if it's trying to highlight the Switch part in particular.

As you may have guessed, this lead many to believe it's a tease for a Switch port of Diablo 3, given the Diablo light and all.

Diablo 3 on Nintendo Switch makes a lot of sense. The game's style would jell very well with the Switch's portable nature. The original Diablo 3 console releases already did the hard work figuring out how to translate the game's controls to a gamepad, which up to that point had only been designed for mouse and keyboard.

Consoles also got a combat roll that is not present on PC, and it helped the game flow greatly when using a controller. Blizzard only needs to get over the Switch's technical limitations compared to modern consoles, and it potentially has another best-seller on its hands.
