Zelda: Breath of the Wild wins Game of the Year at 21st D.I.C.E. Awards, Nintendo big winner of the night

Winners of the 21st D.I.C.E. Awards were announced last night.

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) announced the D.I.C.E. Awards winners during a ceremony on Thursday, February 22 in Las Vegas.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won game of the year, and walked off with three other awards.

Cuphead also took home three awards, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds took home two, and as did Horizon: Zero Dawn which lead the group with ten nominations, one of which was Game of the Year.

Nintendo's Genyo Takeda was honored with a lifetime achievement award during the ceremony. Takeda, who retired last year, was general manager of Nintendo’s Integrated R&D division, and designed the save system for The Legend of Zelda.

He also produced various games for Nintendo such as arcade game EVR Race, Punch-Out!!, Super Punch-Out!! (arcade and SNES), StarTropics, Pokemon Puzzle League, and Dr. Mario 64. Takeda was also director on various titles.
