Monster Hunter World ships 5 million copies worldwide

Monster Hunter World has shifted 5 million units in its first three days on sale.

Capcom announced the 5 million figure today, a massive success for a Monster Hunter game in the West. Shipped figures often mean sold to retailers, meaning we have no way of knowing how many were actually bought by customers.

However, Capcom also included digital sales in this figure, which isn't something that typically gets reported alongside shipped.

Regardless, it's still very impressive for Monster Hunter World, particularly because Capcom was hoping this would be the game to rope in Western fans. The buzz, at least as far as reviews and word of mouth go, seems to be very positive so far.
