There might be a new Mario cereal coming with a box that doubles as an amiibo

It looks like Nintendo is milking amiibo for all its worth (pun definitely intended).

Today in 'this is unconfirmed, but, like, why would you make this up' - the cereal-loving blog Cerealously (which, by the way, is a wonderful name) seems to have a scoop - again, pun intended, sorry - on an upcoming Mario-themed cereal.

According to blogger Dan G's digging, there are multiple pieces of evidence that Super Mario Cereal is coming, and, more importantly, that buying a box will give you access to certain in-game benefits. Dan was even able to post a shot of the box, which proudly proclaims that the box "is a special amiibo" (click the link above to see it). Presumably it'll operate like the amiibo cards Nintendo released for Animal Crossing and a few other games.

The cereal itself looks fairly unhealthy, with its big lumps of 'power up marshmallows', but there might be some benefits for Mario if you choose to eat it.

What kind of powers could the box grant Mario? New powers? New outfits? The ability to transform into a bowl of cereal? It will probably just replenish his health or something, but we can dream.

Of course, none of this is confirmed - it might simply be an extremely good photoshop. But it's worth keeping an eye out - amiibo completionists will need to snap up a box if it ever hits shelves.
