Pokemon's global lifetime sales reach 300 million, not counting Pokemon GO
That's a lot of people catching them all.
We know that the Pokemon series is incredibly popular - Pokemon GO wouldn't even speculate about catching 3 billion Pokemon otherwise. Yet it's still awe-inspiring to see the sales figures attached to the entire series. In this case, the Pokemon Company has announced that the entire monster-catching series has reached a staggering 300 million sales.
The announcement, reported by Famitsu and translated by GamesIndustry.biz, applies entirely to physical sales - which means Pokemon GO and virtual console re-releases don't count. There's still an impressive 76-strong list of games featured however, from the 1996 Game Boy originals to spin-offs like Pokemon Snap or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.
Since Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon launched for 3DS last week, those figures presumably haven't been counted and will cause the total sales to surge ahead even further. Now imagine the reaction when the upcoming Nintendo Switch release arrives.
It's quite the impressive milestone just one year after Pokemon's 20th anniversary. It looks like the fans aren't tired of catching them all just yet.
