Cuphead will definitely be returning, according to the Moldenhauer brothers
If you liked Cuphead, then good news - we're going to get more Cuphead in the future.
Cuphead, which released exclusively on Xbox One and PC in September, has been a huge success. It sold over a million copies within its first two weeks on sale, which is basically all the proof you need that a sequel will happen. Still, it's nice to have something approaching a solid confirmation of this.
Studio MDHR was founded by two brothers, Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, who both appeared in an interview with IGN recently. During the interview, the pair was asked about the likelihood of Cuphead returning in the future, and gave a fairly definitive answer, albeit one that didn't include any specific details.
Jared says that we'll see Cuphead again "at some point". Whether that's the immediate plan or not, neither brother can say - the game just came out and they have had "zero time to breathe or think" - but Cuphead will definitely, absolutely return, whether for a Cuphead 2 or DLC, or in another guise entirely.
"We would have had two thirty-minute chats about the future", Chad clarifies. "I did promise a long time ago Cuphead Horse Racer 2 in an interview", Jared recalls, revisiting a joke I cannot find evidence of him having ever actually made, but which presumably exists out there somewhere.
Feel free to let us know in the comments what you'd like to see in a future Cuphead - a new era, different gameplay, or more of the same?
