Gears of War 4 campaign, Horde mode can run at up to 60fps on Xbox One X

On Xbox One X, Gears of War 4 will offer two rendering modes.

This is part of the enhancements package available in Gears of War 4 for Xbox One X owners. As you might expect, the two rendering modes focus on different targets, with one prioritising resolution, and the other frame-rate.

If you pick Visuals, the game will display at a full 4K resolution (3840x2160) in both campaign, and Horde mode while targeting 30 frames-per-second. On 1080p screens, picking this option will downsample the image to full-hd for a sharper presentation.

Performance mode, on the other hand, unlocks the frame-rate in campaign, and Horde allowing a frame-rate of up to 60fps at 1080p. In both cases, multiplayer will target 60fps thanks to adaptive resolution scaling.

On Xbox One X, the game will use higher resolution textures and offer other visual upgrades such as enhanced light shafts, dynamic shadows, increased draw distances, higher-quality reflections, and more. Beyond that, the Xbox One X version also supports HDR - which is available on Xbox One S as well - and Dolby Atmos Audio.

All of this will be available as part of a free update on November 7, coinciding with the launch of Xbox One X.
