Here's a deeper look at Counter-Strike: GO's improved version of Dust2
The most iconic map in Counter-Strike is getting a minor makeover to improve gameplay.
We learned yesterday that Dust2 was getting an update, and as it turns out we did not have to wait long to find out the details.
The updated Dust2 is a visual upgrade, but there are also lots of small changes being made so as to avoid problems players may have been running into on the map previously.
On a post made to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's official website, the developers detailed their main aims for these changes:
- Improve player readability throughout the map
- Refine movement around the world including cover
- Upgrade the visuals to be in line with modern maps
To do this, they've made numerous tweaks all over the place - a wrecked car gets moved here, shadows get reduced there, that sort of thing. The post details these changes with images, but for many players the biggest difference will be that the two pizza places are being pulled out and replaced with dentists' offices. Shock horror!
The character models for the 'Leet Krew' have been overhauled as well, giving them a new look.
The new crew now carries a higher resolution than before.
The new version of Dust2 is currently available in the game's beta branch, with the developers seeking feedback on the changes.
