Here's the first footage of a properly playable build of Psychonauts 2 to get you amped

Psychonauts 2 has been shown off a bit in videos, but now we have the first proper look of a section that actually resembles what we'll see in the final game.

This footage represents a playable 'hour or hour and a half of content', apparently. It's not final, of course, but it's designed to properly represent what Psychonauts 2 will be. There's a lot of general discussion in here about the numerous parts of the game experience - the controls, the music, the objectives. It's a fairly charming peak behind the scenes of the game's development.

The game, which will be published by Starbreeze, is still a while off - Double Fine has been aiming for 2018, but we'll see if that happens.

They're exploring a large space in the game, an explorable space 'way, way bigger' than what was in the original game. This is the hub world, essentially, through which the brains you're exploring will be accessed.

They're not going to show the brains for "a while", apparently, because they want to maintain some surprises. The animation is lovely, and it's got a wonky, angular art style that will be familiar to fans of the original.

At one point they point out that the goats have buttholes now, so that's good. That's what you wanted, right?

There's quite a bit of insight here if you want to take in the full video, but the really important thing is that the game looks and feels like Psychonauts. The game will be available on PC, PS4, and XBox One.
