This Japanese Destiny 2 live-action dance party trailer captures what makes Destiny great with minimal bloodshed

This Destiny 2 trailer has pop-and-locked its way into our hearts.

Let's take a few minutes off writing Destiny 2 guides and enjoy a bit of lighthearted celebration.

The campaign for Destiny 2 has had some great, fun trailers - we especially enjoyed Cayde 6's little pep talk - but this new trailer, posted on PlayStation Japan's YouTube, really gets the game.

The trailer seems to be inspired by the Japanese live-action trailer for A Link to the Past, which one of the best trailers ever released for a game.

What often gets missed in the criticism of Destiny is how great it is as a pure social experience. Destiny is a game that you can take very seriously, but it's also one that you can goof off in. Destiny is a great game to hang out in, with friends or with strangers. It's fun to jump into the hub and dance with whomever will dance with you.

This goofy trailer captures that with its outrageous impromptu dance party in the middle of the action. 'Get silly!', it says. 'Get really silly, if you want to!'

The music is not typical of the game, but it still nails a certain vibe. The extreme sincerity of the music, which is bad but not so bad that you can't kind of bop your head to it, perfectly captures the way Destiny takes itself seriously but doesn't necessarily expect that you, the player, always will. Even the gameplay footage at the end is inter-cut with footage of players goofing off together. It's wonderful.

Destiny 2 is out now on PS4 and Xbox One, and due for PC on October 24.
