The remastered Wipeout: Omega Collection speeds to the top of the UK charts in a first for the franchise

Sony scores a UK no.1 with the debut of Wipeout: Omega Collection.

It's been more than 20 years since the first Wipeout game whooshed onto the PlayStation, and in all that time, the series has never quite managed to get to No.1 in the UK charts.

So the news that Wipeout: Omega Collection has skirted past Tekken 7 to claim first place in the charts is a pretty big deal. Dirt 4 didn't even manage to catch up, having to settle for third place on the week of its release.

Tekken 7 managed a similarly impressive feat last week, nabbing the first UK No.1 for the series in almost 20 years.

Horizon Zero Dawn has climbed up from No.8 to No.4, but don't fret - GTA 5 hasn't gone anywhere, and is still in the top five.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind is another new entry and breaks the top ten for ninth position. Another Bethesda title, Dishonored 2, keeps it company at No.10.
