Namco files trademark for Pac-Man Maker
The Super Mario Maker formula may soon expand beyond the Nintendoverse.
Bandai Namco, owner of the Pac-Man IP, has registered a trademark for something called Pac-Man Maker. The trademark registration is very recent, filed for yesterday with the European IP office.
First picked up by NeoGAF, the trademark page shows it's registered for classifications nine and 41, putting it under video games and "amusement park services", which could be another word for arcade games.
Though this registration does not necessarily mean Namco is working on Pac-Man Maker, it at least indicate it's toying with the idea. That said, the publisher could just be preemptively securing the rights for the name to prevent others from claiming it, should it ever need it.
Think of it as a new "World of", something many companies flocked for back when World of Warcraft first took the world by storm.
A Pac-Man Maker in the same vein as Super Mario Maker does sound good, though.
