The Walking Dead Season 3 will skip Xbox 360 and PS3, but there's a way to import your saves
The third season of The Walking Dead won't be coming to Xbox 360 or PS3, but not all is lost.
The Walking Dead Season 3 will be the series' first release not to hit Xbox 360 and PS3. But because Xbox 360 and PS3 is where many played the first two seasons, Telltale needed to figure out a way to help those players bring their save files to modern platforms.
The method the developer/publisher has come up with isn't the most elegant, but it should do the job. Your first option is to import the Season 2 save file from Xbox 360 or PS3.
To do this, you'll need to download the latest patch, which will add a new option to upload your save file. The save file must be of the complete season. You'll also need a Telltale account, which is what will be handling this transfer. You can create one through Telltale's official site.
To initiate the upload process, assuming everything is updated and your console is connected to the internet, navigate to 'Save Files' from the main menu, then choose 'Upload'. You can only upload one save file at a time.
Now that this is done, you'll need to head over to the save files terminal on Telltale's website, find the save file you want and click 'Use Save'.
All that's left to do is launch Season 3 on your new platform, log into your Telltale account, and choose 'Import Saves from Telltale Account' under 'Extras'. You should now be seeing an option to 'Continue Your Story'.
If you can't, or don't want to, dig up your old console, there's another way. You can also use the Recreate feature to mock up a save file. You'll get to decide the major events the same way you would when playing the game. To do this, select 'Continue Your Story' from the 'Episodes' menu, and click on 'Recreate' on the far right.
There are some limitations to this. For instance, on iOS devices, local saves must be uploaded using a Telltale account and imported into Season 3 before you can continue your story. On Windows 10, you can only continue your story if your saves were imported from other platforms, since the local save feature is not available. Finally, the save import feature is not available on PS Vita.
