Method to Madness Studio announces a new survival horror game
After what feels like an eternity survival horror games are making a comeback, even to the point of creeping into Resident Evil once again. But it's indie developers who have pushed the genre forward in recent years, which means Method to Madness Studio might be worth paying attention to. This India-based game developer has posted an announcement trailer Dear Charlotte, a new survival horror game with promising potential for fans.
Dear Charlotte follows John, an amnesiac man trapped in the Quantic Medical Research Facility. When a bizarre mutant outbreak overwhelms the asylum, he is rescued by Dr. Kremlin - a mad scientist who claims John knows the truth behind the disaster. Players must guide John as he tries to uncover the mystery behind the facility, all while responding to conflicting information from Dr. Kremlin and unseen voices within his own mind.
It's hard to deny that Dear Charlotte isn't a little cliched - insane asylums and unreliable protagonists are staples of the survival horror genre. But the environments are appropriately unsettling, and the final shot of a monster with candles driven into its head is absolutely creepy. Method to Madness is keeping quiet about on what exactly players can expect, but if you need another survival horror game in your life, this should be worth checking out.
Dear Charlotte is marketed as an episodic game for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
