Clash of Clans developer Supercell sells for $8.6 billion
As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Chinese Internet company Tencent and its partners are buying an 84.3% stake in the Finnish developer from Japanese company SoftBank Group Corp.
This is even more than the $5.9 billion Activision Blizzard spent on acquiring King Digital Entertainment, the makers of Candy Crush.
Supercell, also responsible for Clash Royale, earned $779.1 million last year. Tencent has promised that Supercell will maintain their independence despite the purchase.
In any case, Supercell's 190 employees have done quite well for themselves.
