Yakuza 0 is still a fair way off but Sega has done right by us with a trailer to celebrate E3 2016.
If you're a series fan you probably know all about this one, since it released in Japan last year, but Sega is hopeful series newcomers might care to take a look so let's go ahead and set the scene.
Yakuza 0 is a prequel to the rest of the series and is set in 1988. For the first time, it tells the full story of how series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu rose through the ranks of the Yakuza. Fan-favourite character Goro Majima, the Mad Dog of Shimano, is also playable - and has his own unique moveset.
The Ryu Ga Gotoko franchise's trademark action combat returns to punctuate an underworld crime drama, as does the franchise's third major selling point - the lavishly detailed cityscape of Kamurocho. Building on Shenmue's open-world foundation, the Yakuza series is famous for its setting, which features loads of shops and arcades and all other sorts of amusements, an astoundingly large number of which are interactive.
Yakuza 0 releases in 2017 for PS4, including at retail in North America.
