Overwatch cross-platform play is being considered by Blizzard

Blizzard has alluded to the fact that they may just be considering cross-platform play between consoles for Overwatch.

When asked if there would ever be cross-platform play, the Overwatch account replied with the above tweet, saying that they would "keep an eye on cross-platform possibilities on the consoles."

In response to a second question asking if PS4 players would be able to play with PC players at some point in the future, they said, "We have no plans for that. Mixing mouse/keyboard and controller can have balance and competitive issues."

Furthermore, game director Jeff Kaplan told Eurogamer said the studio is being very open-minded about it.

"We're still very open-minded about it. I know that Rocket League was coming out with cross-platform play between PlayStation and Xbox," he said. "I'm a huge Rocket League fan . I primarily played on PC, but I want to check it out and see how it feels.

"I also want to see what the fan reaction is and if they're liking it. I have friends at Psyonix and I want to get their reaction too. We are very open-minded, but we're going to wait and gather feedback from developers and from fans."

So if you've been languishing alone on one console while your friends have been having a wonderful time without you on another, hang in there. You may get to play with them yet.
