Overwatch hero guide: Tracer
She's the poster girl for Overwatch but she's much more than a pin-up.
Overwatch hero guide: Tracer
Role: Offense
Tracer's on the front of the box for a reason: she's one of the most unique heroes in Overwatch. Fast and nimble, what she lacks in toughness she makes up for with speed. Keep her moving and you'll keep on top of the enemy.
Strong against: Mercy, Bastion, Widowmaker
Weak against: McCree, Mei, Winston
Tracer's abilities
Pulse Pistols
Tracer's Pulse Pistols are rapid-fire damage dealers but only at short range. They have a decent cone of fire, but don't expect them to do much damage at medium range or beyond.
Blink
Blink is Tracer's most important ability. It allows her to teleport in her direction of travel instantly, meaning she can zip behind and enemy in an instant for surprise attacks, or dodge completely out of the line of fire.
Recall
Recall lets Tracer zip back to whatever state she was in three seconds ago. It resets health, position and ammo.
Ultimate Ability: Pulse Bomb
Tracer's Pulse Bomb is a sticky - it sticks to the first surface or hero it hits then detonates shortly after dealing area of effect damage.
Tracer strategy tips
- Use Blink to surprise opponents and chain it to cross massive distance on any map quickly.
- Recall is great for escaping tricky situations, regaining health and you can also fool enemies who are following you into tricky situations. Experiment with it.
- When activating Recall Tracer is invulnerable to damage for a very short period (during the animation). With good timing you can avoid incoming attacks completely.
- Blink towards an enemy, hit them with the Pulse Bomb and then Recall back and watch your opponent blow. Nice.
