The free-to-play MMO DC Universe Online has made its way onto Xbox One.
Xbox One players can now channel their inner Super Hero or Villain with DC Universe Online
All you have to do is hit up the Xbox Games Store like normal, and if you have an Xbox Live Gold account, you'll be able to jump online and play with like-minded folks.
Xbox One players will also be handed three exclusive items: the Powered-Up Cape, Powered-Up Emblem and Vapor Aura.
Originally released by Sony Entertainment Online for PC and PlayStation 3 2011, the MMO allows players create their own Super Hero or Villain. I played the beta, and I was rather impressed with the fairly extensive set of options. My character looked rather silly - on purpose.
Each hero or villain can also be equipped with various superpowers which can be used to help the citizens of Metropolis, Gotham City and beyond - or cause havoc. I specialized in magic or something to that effect. It's been ages. I remember shooting lightning, though.
As well as creating their own character, players can also fight as any of 40 available DC Comics characters in Legends PvP and PvE game modes. This includes Batman, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Superman, The Flash, The Joker, Wonder Woman and others.
Since release, DCUO has released various ongoing events, stories and challenges along with 20 original Episodes. New content inspired by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the TV series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow have been released this year. Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Darkseid and Gotham Girls are coming this year.
Since it is a F2P game, Episodes, as well as Legends characters and powers, are available to purchase individually or can be accessed through DCUO Membership. Xbox One users will be able to access all content currently available, and in the future, all game updates and marketplace additions are planned to release simultaneously across all platforms.
DC Universe Online is the first title from Daybreak Games, formerly SOE, to be published on Xbox One. The MMO is also available on PS4.
